I am delighted to announce Quidos’ Damp & Mould Certification Scheme. This initiative highlights the importance of social landlords working with qualified industry professionals to help protect their customers and remain compliant with Awaab’s Law. By engaging accredited inspectors, landlords can ensure damp and mould issues are identified and managed in line with current regulations and best practice. Professionals who join our scheme will benefit from recognition through one of the industry’s most trusted accreditation providers.
We will be working alongside Professor John Edwards from the Environmental Study Course to deliver training to our members. Whilst a regulated qualification provides the essential theoretical foundation, we believe the industry also needs a reliable way to recognise how that knowledge is applied in practice, with continuous support and learning

This course is designed to enhance professional capability and support effective responses to damp and mould issues in residential properties.

Why This Matters
Damp and mould issues can impact:
✔ Resident health and wellbeing
✔ Housing quality
✔ Compliance obligations
✔ Property condition
With increased regulatory focus and evolving expectations, professional competence in assessment and reporting is becoming essential.
This represents both a compliance requirement and a professional opportunity for individuals and organisations operating in the housing and property sector.
What Is Awaab's Law?
Awaab’s Law is legislation introduced to improve how social landlords respond to damp and mould hazards in residential properties.
It requires landlords to:
✔ Investigate reported damp and mould issues within defined timeframes
✔ Take timely action where hazards are identified
✔ Document responses and remediation steps
✔ Prioritise resident health and housing safety
The law was introduced following concerns about the impact of unmanaged damp and mould on residents and property conditions.
Its purpose is to ensure that housing providers respond effectively and proactively to environmental hazards that can affect health and wellbeing.
For professionals working in housing, property assessment and compliance services, understanding these obligations is increasingly important.
